South Africa is a wonderful place to experience a fantastic holiday. The 9 night trip below includes a wonderful 3 night safari in the Timbavati Private Game Reserve, a 4 night stay in Cape Town as well as a 2 night stay in the beautiful Cape Winelands.
Day 1 - 4
On arrival in Johannesburg you will change to a domestic flight to Hoedspruit. At Hoedspruit airport you will be picked up and driven to Kambaku Safari Lodge in the Timbavati. Here you will spend 3 nights and experience an unbelievable safari in big five game reserve in a rustic, yet romantic safari lodge. You will go on morning and evening game drives and during the day you will have a chance to relax in the beautiful safari lodge, if you are adventures you can also go on guided game walks with your game ranger. Going on game walks is a fantastic experience as you see many more of the small creatures that you often miss when you are in a vehicle. Also it is an awe inspiring feeling to come face to face with some of the larger African animals when you are on foot.
Day 4
After breakfast at Kambaku you will be picked up and driven to the airport in Hoedspruit from where you will fly to Cape Town via Johannesburg.
At the airport in Cape Town you will pick up your rental car and drive to Cape Town (about 40 minutes’ drive) In Cape Town you will stay at the wonderful Four Rosmead guest house in central Cape Town. Four Rosmead is a small and elegant guest house located in one of the best parts of Cape Town. Four Rosmead is an ideal base for exploring Cape Town. Here you will spend 4 nights.
The first night we suggest that you drive to the V&A Waterfront and have dinner at one of the many restaurants in the Waterfront.
Day 5
After breakfast at Four Rosmead we suggest that you spend your first full day in Cape Town exploring the city. You should visit the city centre, Green Market Square, Parliament, Company Gardens. We suggest that you go up Table Mountain in the afternoon. On the way back to Four Rosmead we suggest that you make a stop in Camps Bay for an evening drink.
For dinner we suggest that you eat at 95 Keerom in the city centre.
Day 6
After breakfast at Four Rosmead we suggest that you drive down to Cape Point. You should go via the beautiful Chapman’s Peak drive. Cape Point is a lovely setting and a great place to stop for lunch, on the way back towards Cape Town we also suggest that you visit the Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach in Simons Town. On the way to Cape Town you should also stop in the Constantia Winelands, the wine estate Groot Constantia is well worth a visit.
For dinner we suggest that you stay in Constantia and eat at the famous La Colombe Restaurant, this is considered the best restaurant in South Africa and also one of the 50 best restaurants in the world.
Day 7
After breakfast at Four Rosmead we suggest that you drive to the V&A Waterfront and take the ferry to Robben Island. Robben Island is where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned and it is a very interesting historical tour. In the afternoon we suggest that you spend on the beach in either Clifton or Camps Bay. For dinner we suggest that you eat in one of the restaurants along the beach in Camps Bay.
Day 8
After breakfast at Four Rosmead we suggest that you take a leisurely drive through the Cape Winelands to Franschhoek where you will be staying on a small wine farm called Klein Waterval Riverside Lodge. This a very charming but rustic guest house perfectly situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands.
The rest of the day we suggest that you spend relaxing by the pool.
For dinner we suggest that you go to Franschhoek and eat at Haute Cabrière which is a lovely restaurant on a wine farm just outside of Franschhoek.
Day 9
After breakfast at Klein Waterval we suggest that you spend the day exploring the Cape Winelands. Close to the guest house there are many great wine farms and wonderful restaurants. We suggest that you go wine tasting at La Motte, Grande Provence, Delaire and Boschendal wine estates and for dinner we suggest that you eat at Rust en Vrede which ranked as the second best restaurant in South Africa.
