One of the most unique safari lodges that we have seen, Hamiltons is all about elegance and sophistication in a lavish setting that does not interfere with the feeling of being in the African bush; like finding oneself in one of Karin Blixen’s expeditions in East Africa.
Hamiltons lies by a riverbed that only fills up during the rainy season. The lodge has one large main tent and six very impressive and comfortable guest tents. To reach the tents guests must walk on wooden bridges attached to Jackalberry trees high above the ground so that even elephants can walk by underneath.
The main tent has a lounge and dining room that open onto a large wooden deck with tables and chairs and sun loungers around the pool all facing the riverbed. Guests can enjoy a lovely drink and watch the animals wonder along the riverbed in search of water.
To keep with the colonial ambience, the main tent and the guest tents are beautifully decorated with old explorer artifacts and neutral colours to blend with the magnificent setting. Dark wooden floors and furniture from the late 1800s and early 1900s combined with big chandeliers and candles create a dream like feeling to this wonderful place. Peace and tranquility are at the core of this lodge and guests can enjoy spa treatments by a professional therapist either in the privacy of their rooms or by the pool. A wonderful way to spend a relaxing afternoon is to sit by the pool with a good book and listen to the African bush speak.
