Grande Roche is a beautiful 18th Century farm house entirely restored to its former stature and is today a fantastic example of Relais & Chateau luxury. Set amidst the vineyards and surrounded by gorgeous views of Paarl´s valley and mountains, guests will feel sheltered from the city. Yet it is only a short drive to the main road and close to many fantastic wine farms in Paarl, Wellington, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch.
Grande Roche has a wonderful romantic charm, the original character of the Manor House is abundantly present with the elegant and luxurious décor of today’s five star hotel.
As you enter the main reception, lounge and dining room you feel a time gone by, the balance is perfect between the old grand manor house lifestyle and today’s modern luxury.
There are two big pools, one by the bistro in a courtyard and the other by the gym which is heated and more private (not for children under the age of 14). Lovely gardens separate the buildings that make up the cluster of different rooms. All the original buildings remain and have been restored and renovated to accommodate the beautiful spacious rooms so guests can find themselves sleeping in the old wine cellar or slaves quarters. Even the original chapel still stands in its entirety and is used for small weddings.
Guests can unwind and enjoy the fantastic service offered at Grande Roche from the warm and personal welcome to the fantastic facilities and wonderful food at both the hotel’s restaurants.
“We went to stay at Grande Roche on a beautiful Cape winter day and were also invited for a gourmet evening at Bosmans Restaurant. Everything about our stay was great, the room was beautiful, the service excellent and the food at Bosmans was outstanding. Grand Roche is a perfect place to experience the Cape Winelands.” – Adam
