Cathbert Country Inn

Cathbert Country Inn is a lovely place to spend a relaxing and peaceful holiday when in the Winelands. Situated at the heart of the Cape Winelands only 20km from Franschhoek, 10km from Paarl and 20km from Stellenbosch this is an ideal location to explore the fantastic Wine Farms and world-renown restaurants.

Cathbert Country Inn has a genuine country feel with beautiful gardens and spectacular views of the mountains all the way to Paarl. Set on 4.3 hectares on a wine farm there is a wonderful sense of openness and space, lovely vineyards, big garden and spectacular views.

The main building has a wraparound veranda with couches and comfy sofas to laze in, and on hot summer days guests can enjoy breakfast and dinner overlooking the garden and vineyards. The small cosy dining room is a lovely alternative in the winter.

The rooms at Cathbert are grouped in 2 buildings, each with 4 rooms side by side. Each room has its own veranda or small garden and although not very private there are several lovely spots around the garden to sit and relax under the shade of the trees.

There is a special feel at Cathbert and this really is a home away from home not only for Aubrey and Lynne who run Cathbert but for all guests who stay there. Secluded away from the main road guests can enjoy the tranquillity of being surrounded by vineyards and majestic views. For those guests wanting some exercise whilst taking in the scenery there are lovely walks into the forest and alongside the vineyards.

Cathbert Country Inn is ideal for guests wanting to explore the region and then relax in the afternoon by the beautiful pool before a delicious 4-course dinner that should be tasted at least once during your stay.

There are eight rooms and all are very comfortable, decorated in a simple way with a warm country feel. Some of the rooms and bathrooms are undergoing renovations to make the bathrooms more modern and slightly bigger. Although the rooms are not huge they are very comfortable and the beds are wonderful. The two smaller standard rooms have a good size bedroom and bathroom but limited views due to the hedges giving more privacy to the guests. The 4 luxury rooms have their own patios looking out to the dam. The additional 2 bedroom luxury room has smaller rooms and a separate shared lounge with a fireplace and the biggest room, the executive room has a mini kitchenette and nice big lounge and dining room that are separate to the bedroom with en suite bathroom. The bedroom and bathroom are of a good size.  All the rooms have air-conditioning, ceiling fan, mini-bar, safe, TV and good cupboard space.

There is also a 2-bedroom self-catered cottage that is set apart from the other rooms and main house and has a small pool and beautiful views. The 2 bedroom cottage is great for longer stays as there is a fully fitted kitchen, lounge with flat screen TV, a nice garden and small pool with lovely views to the vineyards and mountains. The 2 bedrooms are of adequate size and share the one bathroom which is small.

Cathbert Country Inn does not take children under the age of 11 years.
Guests should try the 4-course menu at Cathbert Country Inn which is a delectable experience. Dinner must be pre-booked the night before.
The 2 bedroom Cottage is a self-catered option but guests can have breakfast at an extra cost and enjoy the 4-course dinner.
