Ellerman House

The Cape Colonial Manor House was built in 1912 as a stately residence for Sir John Ellerman and his wife Lady Ellerman. In 1992 the house was restored to its original 20th century splendour and opened as a boutique hotel majestically combining the luxury and lavish comfort of past generations with contemporary luxury and service.

The decor is classic colonial with personal treasures and beautiful art from the owners making Ellerman House more of a home than a hotel. Of course, everything is spick and span and all the rooms are equipped with all the modern comforts one can expect at a five star hotel.

The lovely panorama veranda with spectacular ocean views has an instant effect as guests listen to the waves breaking and the peacefulness surrounding them. The veranda also looks onto the immaculately kept lawns and the big pool with sun loungers all facing the Ocean.

Rooms at Ellerman House
All 11 en-suite bedrooms are decorated individually in an English colonial style. The rooms are more like suites averaging 30m² to 100m² with all but two rooms having big balconies and gorgeous ocean views. There are two suites with own private dining rooms that seat eight people and living rooms to entertain outside guests while indulging in the first class service at Ellerman House.

All the rooms have beautiful classic large bathrooms with separate shower and a big bath fit for royalty. The rooms are fully equipped with air conditioning, under floor heating, satellite TV and internet connection.

Ellerman Villa
Adjacent to Ellerman House is Ellerman Villa, a new and ultramodern luxury villa with five en-suite rooms.

Built on three levels, the Villa’s top floor has three magnificent bedrooms, two with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and one with views of Table Mountain. The second floor has an open plan living room, dining room and office. This large room extends onto an outside terrace and views of the Atlantic Ocean. On the ground floor there are two more bedrooms and a fantastic Spa with two treatment rooms, a therapy steam room, sauna, a very cold plunge pool and a big heated pool on the veranda. Guests can get various treatments in one of the two treatment rooms or outside on the veranda.

Guests can book the entire Villa and get sole use of the Spa, or they can rent just the top floor with the three bedrooms and own elevator for complete privacy. A personal chef and butler are part of the package at Ellerman Villa, epitomising the hotel’s philosophy of excellence.
