Kosi Forest Lodge

Kosi Forest Lodge is like an enchanted forest with beautiful trees and lots of bird life. The peace and tranquillity is captivating and here guests can really enjoy being in nature and easily forget the modern amenities we have so gotten used to. Perfect for honeymooners who want a genuine and more rustic experience, yet still very romantic and private. The lodge is not as luxurious in accommodation but it is exclusive with only eight tents and the service, setting and overall experience is fantastic.

The lodge is built in the forest, no trees have been cut to make space for the lodge so the eight tents are very private and quite apart from each other. Walking through the lodge along the sand and under lovely trees will undoubtedly bring peace and tranquillity to any guest staying here.

The main lodge area has a lovely open deck, bar and lounge. Most meals are served on the deck under large beautiful trees. There is a boma where after dinner drinks can be enjoyed sitting around the fire. The pool area is set quite apart from the main lodge and overlooks one of the lakes. Kosi Forest Lodge is perfect for nature lovers who can take long walks in the forest and by the lakes. The birdlife is abundant and often guests will wake up to the singing of hundreds of birds. The lodge has limited electricity more so that guests can read in bed at night, otherwise the lodge is lit up with paraffin lamps creating a wonderful romantic setting.

Kosi Forest Lodge is very cosy and the team is wonderful and gets involved with the guests. There are lots of activities for guests to do such as canoeing, forest walks, boat trips on the lakes and canals, picnic on the beach and snorkelling.

Rooms at Kosi Forest Lodge
There are eight tented rooms all very private and secluded in the forest. The tents are not very spacious but have big comfortable beds with mosquito nets and enough space for bed side tables, one chair and a small cupboard where guest will find complimentary sherry as well as tea and coffee facilities stand. The tents feel very spacious and airy due to the high celling made of reeds. The bathrooms are very unique as both the shower and bath tub are outside, the bath is sunk into the sand and is very private. Surrounding the “bathroom” there are high walls made of reeds which create lots of privacy and also a lovely romantic feel, it is a wonderful experience bathing under the stars. The basin and toilet are indoors but there is no door to the outside shower and bath tub so although the space is very confined it does not feel claustrophobic as it is open. There is a door from the bathroom back into the room for extra privacy and to keep any “unwanted guests” out of the bedroom at night. Each tent also has a lovely outside porch that is very private and wonderful to sit and enjoy a drink listening to the birds singing.
As there is no electricity there is also no air conditioning or ceiling fan and in the summer it can get very hot and humid sometimes temperatures reach 40۫ and humidity is more than 80%.

General Information
Kosi Forest Lodge is a low malaria risk area and precaution is advised.
The lodge takes children of all ages.
To access the lodge you need a 4x4 as it is very sandy so most guests drive to the Total petrol station in Manguzi and take the lodge’s transfer to Kosi Forest Lodge which is complimentary.
Kosi Forest Lodge has limited electricity at certain times of the day but there is always hot water and also enough light at night to read a book in bed.
There are no keys to lock the tent and there is no safe in the tent.
