De Zalze Golf Club is situated in the Cape Winelands, between Stellenbosch and Somerset West, about 40 minutes drive from Cape Town. The golf course is located in one of the most beautiful parts of the Cape Winelands, the Blaauwklippen river flows through the course and edging the fairways are vineyards and fruit orchards. The views from de Zalze are stunning, many holes looking towards the magnificent Stellenbosch mountains.
De Zalze Golf Club is a championship course, with large and often very quick greens, and fairways that are relatively wide. In 2006, de Zalze was host to the World Amateur Team Championships (Eisenhower and Espirito Santo trophies). In 2007, Golf Digest ranked de Zalze the 24th best golf course in South Africa. Hardly surprising, thus, that amateurs and pros alike choose this course for their golf vacation packages or Stellenbosch golf holidays.
The signature hole at de Zalze is the 13th. The back tee and club tee are both situated on two small islands, and players are required to hit over a fair bit of water to reach the fairway. Because the hole is only 268m, long hitters can drive the green – but it is not recommended for most players.
Practice facilities
Golf balls for the driving range are included in the green fee, and de Zalze also has a putting green and practice area for your short game.
Club House
De Zalze Golf Club has a wonderful club house with a good lunch restaurant and bar, as well as a half way house and pro shop. There are changing rooms and storage facilities in the club house.
Club Rental & Caddies
At de Zalze you can rent golf clubs, golf carts and trolleys, and caddies are also available.
Additional Information
Soft spikes, as well as proper golfing attire, are required when playing at de Zalze.
Beautiful setting, challenging course, but enjoyable for both high and low handicappers. Excellent service and a very nice atmosphere at the clubhouse when reviewing the golf having been played. A very good choice of golf club.
